Montrose rail station is nearby. Rooms: 6 Important information From Sunday 28 October 2018 for the winter months, the property's restaurant will be closed on Sunday and Monday evenings and dinner will not be available. The staff were all friendly and helpful, but got the impression that they didn't like to be flustered. It was also very old and desperately in need of some redecoration and a good spring clean - there were cracks in the ceiling, the shower was very weak and the radiator in the bathroom was leaning at a very strange angle with no surface space available in the bathroom so all our toiletries were crammed onto the toilet cistern. However, it was fine as we - once again - were asked to sit in the bar until table was ready lol. We did enjoy our stay.
Our room was located in the older part of the hotel right opposite the main staircase so we heard everyone going past our room in the morning and evening as well as the cleaner hoovering at 8am on a Saturday morning. Some of the spacious en suite rooms at the Links Hotel have a balcony. Stayed here for one night with my husband on Saturday night 14th June. Hotel claims to be dog friendly but nowhere to go in hotel other than room leaving them sat outside in the cold with extortionate priced drinks. On more than one occasion, it reminded us of Faulty Towers. Please see our partners for more details. Staff were friendly, breakfast good.
We both had Surf and Turf and the small fillet steak was actually the best steak I have ever eaten in my entire life! On arrival the two ladies behind reception were friendly, although a bit distracted at first. The Links offers excellent facilities together with warm and friendly hospitality, ensuring you a refreshing and relaxing stay. All of the staff were lovely - very friendly and very helpful - Receptionist; bar staff; and waitresses in the dining room. My husband and I booked this hotel for a two day much needed break. We booked dinner for 8pm. Also had a couple of comfy chairs to sit and watch telly.
The under manned and stressed staff had to carry the meals from the kitchen through the dining room to the coffee shop. We ordered a drink and also our food whilst in the bar area. If weather fine not a problem! It is intended to provide real time availability information relating to accommodation which is also provided by third parties. The restaurant will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 18:00 till 20:00 and on Friday and Saturday evenings from 18:00 until 20:15. There was a young man who served us in the dining room - he was very friendly and confirmed my view that there was at least somone in Montrose who understood Customer service. Hotel was quiet, but we were asked to sit in the bar whilst they prepared our table? Dinner in the restaurant was really very good. The whole experience was bemusing at times but go with the flow and you'll enjoy yourself.
The guy who took our orders made some really strange comments while he served us evening dinner was nothing special. Much of the hotel has been recently refurbished including our room which was fine. It was also right next to a banquet room so one night when trying to sleep all we could here were the loud party in the room next door eating and drinking. It offers quality and individual designed bedrooms. Asked for 8pm but were offered 7. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing.
Was invited out to a birthday meal tonight. Please note that guests cannot charge food or drinks to rooms at The Links Hotel. The food and service is highly commended and for more informal eating, the Coffee House will delight you with an exciting mix of Scottish and continental cuisine. I throughly enjoyed it, large portions and well cooked. Only one downside short walk outside to get back to main area.
Other miscellaneous taxes and hotel fees which are not fixed or due at time of booking may be payable at the property at time of stay. The Links is within walking distance of an historic golf course and Montrose Beach. If you take into consideration that the hotel is independent. If you proceed to make a booking you will leave our Website and visit a website owned and operated by a third party. Excellent welcome on our recent stay, quick and efficient check in. There is a cocktail bar and an outdoor terrace.
However, on our 2nd day it was better. Although the room was spacious and light and the bed comfy it definitely needs some modernising. Breakfast the next morning was good - not a huge cold buffet but nice fresh fruit, juice and pastries, and the full Scottish breakfast from the menu was all good. Thanks to everyone at The Links Hotel. The server seemed to bounce between the coffee shop, bar and reception. Our room was fine - it was bright and comfortable with a nice wee balcony. Anyhoo - onto the morning.
This former Edwardian townhouse can be found opposite the historic Mid Links and is an excellent choice for private guests, smaller groups and families. Food was good, but never been asked how I want my burger cooked before. Friends recently stayed here after travelling 7 hours. Other family members had rooms in the newer part of the hotel which were modern and stylish and as per the photos shown on the hotels website and booking. It was lovely, and we sat outside as the weather was sunny. Stayed here for a family event and was slightly disappointed with the room.
